We all look for that little piece of paradise where we can lose ourselves for a while (even if it’s just for a few days) and remember it for the rest of our lives. And interestingly, this idea of paradise often shares a few common factors: white sand beaches, crystal-clear waters, and a relaxed...

David Vázquez Farrus
Co-owner DPM Diving Nusa Penida
David Vázquez Farrus is a leading figure in the international diving industry with over 15 years of experience. His career is a journey of constant evolution: from his technical beginnings in Thailand to business leadership in Indonesia and his current role as a marine conservation filmmaker.
David's professional career began in Koh Tao, Thailand. On this island, a global epicenter for diver training, David built his foundations as an instructor. It was the setting where he developed the discipline, patience, and technique needed to manage large groups of students, accumulating vital experience that he would later bring to other corners of the Coral Triangle.
After his time in Thailand, David moved to Indonesia, where his professional profile took a leap toward managing luxury expeditions. For several years, he served as Cruise Director on liveaboard vessels. In this role, he held ultimate responsibility for logistics, safety, and the diving experience in remote and demanding destinations such as Raja Ampat, Komodo, and the Banda Sea, building a deep knowledge of the currents and biodiversity of the Indonesian archipelago.
In 2018, David reached a key milestone in his career by becoming a fundamental part of the expansion of the DPM Diving brand. As Co-Founder and partner, he led the opening of the DPM Diving center in Nusa Penida, Bali. Under his leadership, the center established itself as a benchmark on the island, known for its challenging diving conditions and the presence of manta rays and the ocean sunfish (Mola Mola). David not only managed the infrastructure and team but also implemented a professional yet approachable teaching philosophy that defines the brand, enabling the center to grow rapidly in one of the most competitive diving areas in the world.
The COVID-19 pandemic marked the beginning of a new creative chapter. With tourism on hold, David delved into professional underwater videography through his brand uw.ocean.visuals. SSI Global Ambassador: His career and work ethic led to his appointment as Global Ambassador for Scuba Schools International (SSI), representing the organization at international trade shows and educational projects. Visual Activism: He currently uses his lens to collaborate with conservation organizations such as CORDAP, documenting the beauty and fragility of coral reefs. His goal is to transform the wonder the ocean inspires into an active responsibility for its protection.
