The SSI Open Water Diver course at DPM Diving in Nusa Penida is a three-day programme that takes complete beginners to an internationally recognised scuba certification valid to 18 metres worldwide. No prior diving experience is required, and the certification is for life — there is no renewal fee and the credential is recognised by every major dive agency globally for fun dives and further training. The course includes confined-water pool training covering the standard SSI skills set — mask clearing and replacement, regulator recovery and clearing, buoyancy control, equalisation, controlled emergency ascents and out-of-air procedures — followed by four open-water dives across the remaining days.

Theory is delivered through the SSI MyDiveGuide digital curriculum, with reading and self-paced study before the in-person sessions. Calmer sites within the Nusa Penida area are used for training dives, keeping beginners away from the stronger currents found at the more advanced sites. A written multiple-choice exam at the end of the course completes the certification.

The price of 6,400,000 IDR includes the SSI Open Water certification, full dive equipment, a professional SSI instructor, dive insurance, pool training, four open-water dives, snacks on board and shower and towel service. A standard SSI medical questionnaire is completed before the course. Bookings via WhatsApp.

No prior diving experience is required. You must be at least 15 years old (10 for Junior Open Water), able to swim and comfortable in the water, and complete a medical questionnaire before the course starts.
