1. Kelingking Beach
This incredible cliff with a t-rex shape can be observed from the highest part, where the Kelingking viewpoint is located.
But Kelingking is not only a viewpoint, it also has a beach that will be one of the best you have ever visited. The path down to the beach is quite uneven, so we recommend you go carefully.
Another tip to visit the viewpoint and the beach of Kelingking is to go early in the morning, to be able to enjoy without big crowds and also to have time to go down to the beach, and to come back! The walk down and up takes about an hour.
2. Angel’s Billabong / Broken Beach
Angel’s Billabong
This hot spot is stunning for photos and has crystal clear waters. It is a shallow tide pool best visited at low tide.
You can snorkel or just chill out in the water. Be careful, as when the tide is high the waves break the edge and you could be swept out into the open sea.
The main road to get here is the same as the one leading to Kelingking Beach, so it is possible to do both on the same day.
Broken Beach
Broken Beach is another of Nusa Penida’s most famous coves and, despite its name, it is not really a beach. It is just around the corner, a few minute’s walk, from Angel’s Billabong, and is well worth a visit.
Here you can contemplate the beauty of the arch that lets in the incredibly blue waters that surround the island.
It is impressive to see the erosion of the rock to create this arch that influenced the name Broken Beach because this cove is not totally enclosed.
3. Diamond Beach
Another of the dreamlike places to visit in Nusa Penida is Diamond Beach. Undoubtedly one of the best beaches on the island.
This sandy beach is surrounded by cliffs, with a turquoise sea and white sands. To get to the beach you will have to go down the cliff by a steep set of steps, but we can guarantee that it will be worth the effort!
The location is southeast of Nusa Penida, and you can combine the trip with a visit to Atuh Beach.
4. Atuh Beach
Atuh Beach on Nusa Penida is the kind of place that takes your breath away at first sight. From the top of the stairs, the view is already insane.
The arc that runs through the rock formation in the water, the huge plummeting cliffs, and the amphitheater-shaped white sand beach are a sight to behold at the base of it all.
The walk down the stairs takes 10 to 15 minutes, but it is quite steep, which is noticeable on the way back, so we recommend you start the walk back before you are completely exhausted or it gets dark.
The beach is long and wide and the sea usually breaks hard. It is recommended to visit when the tide is high, as at low tide it loses much of its charm.
5. Crystal Bay
Crystal Bay is perhaps the most popular beach for those looking for a good view at sunset, or a beach with calm waters for snorkeling or relaxing on the shore.
Unlike all the beaches mentioned above, where the sea breaks with great force, this small bay is very quiet and relaxed.
In our diving courses, we usually visit Crystal Bay for some of our dives. Here’s possible to spot the famous Sunfish, a.k.a. Mola Mola.
Another advantage of Crystal Bay is its proximity to the Toyapakeh area, and that the road to get there is quite easier and shorter.
The view of the sunset from Crystal Bay is excellent, and many people gather here with friends to enjoy the views at sundown.
