About the programme
The Open Water 30 is an exclusive programme developed by DPM Diving that combines the SSI Open Water Diver course with the SSI Deep Adventurer recognition in a single three-day package, certifying complete beginners to 30 metres on completion. No prior diving experience is required. The programme includes six dives in total — the Open Water component (confined-water training plus open-water dives to 18 metres) and the Deep Adventurer dive to 30 metres.
The package covers all dive equipment, dive insurance, a DPM Diving t-shirt, a Pro Diving mask and snorkel, a reusable eco-friendly bottle, a certified SSI instructor and all certification fees. Small groups of maximum four students per instructor are maintained throughout the course. Pricing: the regular package value is 23,200 THB; the current offer price is 18,900 THB.
The offer includes a 50% discount on fun dives at DPM centres in Koh Tao, Nusa Penida, Gili Trawangan and Gili Air, usable once per location. A National Marine Park Fee applies to all dives in Phi Phi: 600 THB on day one and 200 THB on each additional day (paid separately in cash). A standard SSI medical questionnaire must be completed before entering the water.
Why do the Open Water 30 in Koh Phi Phi
The thirty-metre certification opens up the sites that make the archipelago famous. Bida Nok is the classic: a pinnacle with vertical walls, a resident barracuda school and leopard sharks on the sandy shelves at the base. Shark Point, a submerged ridge east of the islands, is the other regular option, best on the calm mornings when the zebra sharks are still settled.
You spend the first days on the sheltered coral slopes of the Marine National Park, so buoyancy is dependable before depth is added. The dry season, November to April, brings flat seas and the visibility peak in February and March, which is when thirty metres actually looks like thirty metres.
Dive sites are chosen on the day according to weather and sea conditions.
