SSI Scuba Diver Course in Koh Tao

The SSI Scuba Diver course at DPM Diving in Koh Tao is a one-day programme that provides the first scuba certification, valid worldwide to a maximum depth of 12 metres. It covers approximately half of the Open Water Diver course content — the same theory modules and pool skills — and can be upgraded to a full Open Water certification at any time and at any SSI centre worldwide. The programme runs in one day, structured around a theory module on equipment, dive physics and safety procedures; a confined-water skills session covering mask clearing, regulator recovery, buoyancy and equalisation; and open-water dives to the 12-metre limit with a professional SSI instructor in attendance throughout.

Unlike the Open Water Diver certification (which allows independent diving with a certified buddy), the Scuba Diver certification requires diving with a professional instructor or dive guide at all times. Price: 8,600 THB, including the SSI Scuba Diver international lifetime certification, full dive equipment, a professional SSI instructor and dive insurance for the course duration. A standard SSI medical questionnaire is completed before water entry; participants with pre-existing cardiac or respiratory conditions should consult a doctor first.
