The Deep Adventure in Koh Tao is a single dive to 30 metres for Open Water-certified divers, under SSI instructor supervision. DPM includes the SSI Deep recognition card and full dive equipment.
About the programme
The Deep Adventure at DPM Diving in Koh Tao is a single guided dive to 30 metres conducted under SSI instructor supervision. It is part of the SSI Advanced Adventurer programme but can be taken independently, making it suitable for Open Water-certified divers who want to experience greater depth without committing to the full Advanced course. The dive takes place at one of Koh Tao's deeper sites, usually Chumphon Pinnacle or Southwest Pinnacle, conditions permitting. It covers the deep dive only: wreck, night and Perfect Buoyancy dives are separate adventures that you can book on their own.
At 30 metres, divers experience compression of colours, increased gas consumption and reduced no-decompression limits — all managed by the instructor. On completion, you receive an SSI Deep Diver recognition card, a valid specialty credential registered in the SSI system. Because DPM does not run single dives, the Deep Adventure is paired with a second fun dive, included in the price.
The price of 3,500 THB covers the Deep Adventure dive, the second fun dive, the SSI recognition card, a professional SSI instructor and all dive equipment. Prerequisites: a valid Open Water Diver certification. A standard SSI medical questionnaire must be completed before entering the water.
Participants with pre-existing cardiac or respiratory conditions should seek medical clearance before diving deeper than 18 metres.
What you see on the Deep Adventure dive in Koh Tao
Thirty metres at Koh Tao means granite. The pinnacles rise straight out of a sand plain and the sides are packed with anemones, fusilier schools and trevally; barracuda hang in the current line above the main tower and bull sharks show up on the deeper flanks. Manta rays are an occasional February-April bonus.
The usual site, conditions permitting, is a 45-minute crossing northwest of Mae Haad, so boats leave early, before the wind builds and while the water is at its clearest. The Gulf stays around 28 °C even at depth, so the cold is never the limiting factor, and March to May gives the sharpest 25-30-metre visibility of the year.
Dive sites are chosen on the day according to weather and sea conditions.

Can I do the Deep Adventure dive if I only have an Open Water certification?
Yes. The Deep Adventure is open to Open Water-certified divers (minimum 18m certification). You will dive to 30 metres under direct SSI instructor supervision throughout the entire dive. This adventure counts towards the Advanced Adventurer certification if you later complete the full course.
Does the Deep Adventure include wreck, night or buoyancy dives?
No. The Deep Adventure is a single deep dive to 30 metres. Wreck, night and Perfect Buoyancy are separate adventures that you can book on their own, or do together in the full Advanced course.
