SSI Deep Diving Specialty

The SSI Deep Diving Specialty at DPM Diving in Koh Phi Phi certifies divers to dive to depths between 18 and 40 metres — the recreational maximum. The course combines theory with open-water dives covering deep dive planning, gas consumption calculations, narcosis awareness and dive computer use at depth. Two course lengths are available depending on current certification: Open Water Divers (otherwise limited to 18 metres) complete the full two-day version with four dives at 8,900 THB; Advanced Divers (already certified to 30 metres) complete a one-day version with two dives at 7,900 THB.

Both routes result in the same SSI Deep Diving Specialty certification, which is internationally recognised and valid for life. All dives include full dive equipment, a professional SSI instructor, dive insurance and lunch. A National Marine Park Fee applies for diving in Phi Phi: 600 THB on the first day and 200 THB on each additional day (paid separately in cash).

A standard SSI medical questionnaire is completed before water entry. Participants with pre-existing cardiac or respiratory conditions should seek medical advice before diving beyond 30 metres, as the risk profile changes with depth.
