About the programme
The Divemaster program at DPM Diving in Koh Tao is a six-week SSI professional-level training course — the first step in a diving career. The programme runs over approximately six weeks with diving five to six days per week, a mix of guiding, assisting instructors, rescue dive practice and learning the operational side of a working dive school. Accommodation is included in the programme: participants stay in the DPM hostel in Koh Tao for the duration of training.
The 44,000 THB fee covers the programme with accommodation, all diving equipment during training and the SSI Divemaster certification. The Deep Specialty course is not included but can be added: Divemaster, accommodation and Deep Specialty together cost 49,000 THB. Prerequisites for the SSI Divemaster programme: a valid Advanced Adventurer or Advanced Open Water certification (or equivalent), Diver Stress and Rescue certification, React Right first aid certification, and a minimum of 40 logged dives. If you do not yet meet these prerequisites, DPM can advise on which courses to complete first.
Divemaster is the first professional level in the SSI system and qualifies you to lead certified divers in the water and assist SSI instructors during courses. It does not certify you to teach independently — that requires the Instructor Development Course (IDC). Bookings and availability are handled via WhatsApp.
Why do your Divemaster in Koh Tao
Six weeks here means diving the whole island rather than one reef. You will guide over the shallow training grounds at Japanese Garden and Twins and, as conditions allow, run deep profiles at Chumphon and Southwest Pinnacle, learn wreck protocols on the HTMS Sattakut and read the east-coast current at Shark Island and Green Rock. Few places give a trainee that much variety inside a 21 km² island.
More entry-level certifications are issued in Koh Tao than anywhere on earth, so there is a constant flow of courses to assist and real students to look after. Accommodation is in our hostel, 100 metres from Mae Haad beach, and the Gulf is diveable every month of the year.
Dive sites are chosen on the day according to weather and sea conditions.

What qualifications do I need before starting the Divemaster program in Koh Tao?
SSI requires an Advanced Adventurer (or equivalent), Diver Stress and Rescue certification, React Right first aid, and a minimum of 40 logged dives. If you are close but not yet at 40 dives, DPM can incorporate additional fun dives into your schedule before the programme begins.
Is accommodation included in the Divemaster program?
Yes. The 44,000 THB fee includes accommodation in the DPM hostel in Koh Tao for the duration of the six-week programme. You dive five to six days per week, with the hostel providing a base between dive days. The Deep Specialty is not included in that fee: with it, the programme costs 49,000 THB.
